Ten Staten Islanders Honored to Sold-Out Crowd

On Thursday, February 16, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Awards breakfast. This year, the event honored ten individuals from the Staten Island business community, all of which make Staten Island a better place to live and work.

The event, held at LiGreci’s Staaten, hosted more than 320 attendees, including friends, family, community leaders, and elected officials. The program was sponsored by Signature Sponsors Empire State Bank, Gateway Arms Realty Corp., and Richmond County Savings Bank, as well as Partner Sponsors Comserv Connect, Lions Pride Leadership, and Rab’s Country Lanes.

This year’s honorees were Sam Angiuli (The Angiuli Group), Patrick Buono (Aurora Computer Technology), James & Maria Carrozza (Cake Chef Companies), Amy Posner (Hillel at the College of Staten Island), Dr. Carolyn Powell (Bay Street Optical Pavilion), Teresa Rampulla (SheMediaNY), Paul and Joe Quattrocchi (Dependable Auto Repair), and Dr. Henry Thompson (Community Health Center of Richmond).

A video introduction of each of this year’s honorees is included in this article. Long-form stories of each of this year’s recipients can be found by clicking here.

As is tradition with the “Lou Miller” breakfast, honorees were roasted by close friends, family, or - in a Lou Miller first - spouses. This year’s presenters were Janet Dugo (Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Staten Island) for Dr. Carolyn Powell, Ricci Merendino (American Financial Network) for the Quattrocchis, David Rampulla (Staten Island FerryAds) for Teresa Rampulla, Robert Robinson (Onyx Parliamentary Consulting) for Dr. Henry Thompson, Tom Scarangello (SCARAN) for Sam Angiuli, Judge Phil Straniere for Amy Posner, and Frank Wilkinson (Rab’s Country Lanes) for the Carrozzas and Patrick Buono.

The event kicked off with remarks by Chamber Chairman Frank Scarangello, Chamber President and CEO Linda Baran, and Louis Miller Co-Chairs Janet Langton-Magnuson and Solomon Chemo. Jack Furnari (Tunnel to Towers Foundation) lead the audience with a performance of the National Anthem.

Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees, and thank you for your dedication in making our community a better place to live and work!
