Doreen M. Inserra, CPA: Celebrating 25 Years of Chamber Membership

Doreen M. Inserra is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). She graduated from St. John's University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1987 and became a CPA in 1994.

Before starting her firm, Doreen was an Audit Manager at the NYC Comptroller's Office, where she managed audits of various city programs, leases, and other contracts. Her work and expertise led her to work on high-profile audits, including those for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Department of Juvenile Justice.

In 1997, she established her own firm, Doreen M. Inserra CPA, P.C., based in Staten Island. “As a Staten Islander, I wanted to be close to home and work within my own community. The firm gave me the opportunity to work with small businesses and clients next door.”

In the 30 years since, Doreen's firm has assisted numerous businesses, entrepreneurs, individuals, trusts, and estates by providing year-round tax and accounting services.

In 2018, Doreen received her Cybersecurity Advisory Services Certificate from AICPA. "I've been in business for a long time, and industries are always changing, with new opportunities emerging every day,” said Inserra. “As a professional and business owner, it's important to me to understand what my clients' needs are and look at the big picture when they can't see beyond their scope."

Doreen explains that her long career has fostered meaningful relationships with clients that she's continued to support through the different stages of their financial literacy and health. "[Part of my job] is to stay ahead of the curve and utilize all the tools at my disposal to keep evolving and growing alongside my clients."

Doreen's commitment to the Staten Island business and professional communities goes beyond her practice. In May 2013, SCORE Staten Island awarded her Honorary Membership status as a resource partner after serving as a mentor for many years. She has also supported the Chamber's Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) by facilitating a business finances workshop where students learned the basics of business accounting concepts and financial literacy.

For her work and leadership, she received the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Award in February 2014.

This year, Inserra is celebrating 25 years of membership with the Staten Island Chamber. "The Chamber is a great place to learn how to become active and collaborative within the community. It can also be a great place to meet like-minded peers and grow, and those connections take time and meaningful effort, but in the long run, they are always meaningful!"

Congratulations to Doreen M. Inserra on 25 years of Chamber membership! We're looking forward to many more years of supporting your success.
