Chamber’s Dom Provenzano Earns Prestigious IOM Recognition from U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The Staten Island Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Dom Provenzano, Membership, Marketing & Communications Manager, has graduated from the Institute for Organization Management (IOM), the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, earning the distinguished IOM designation.
Provenzano completed the rigorous four-year program through the Institute's Southeast session in Athens, Georgia, joining a graduating class of 67 chamber and nonprofit professionals from across the United States. The IOM recognition is awarded to professionals who complete 96 hours of advanced coursework in nonprofit and chamber management, with an emphasis on leadership, advocacy, governance, membership development, communications, finance, strategic planning, and organizational effectiveness.
Founded in 1921, the Institute for Organization Management is regarded as the premier professional development program for chamber of commerce and association executives. Each year, professionals from across the country participate in the program to strengthen their organizations, better serve their members, and enhance their communities through innovative leadership and best practices.
Provenzano is only the second staff member in the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce's history to earn the IOM designation, following President and CEO Linda Baran, IOM, who completed the program in 2003. His accomplishment reflects the Chamber's ongoing commitment to investing in professional development and bringing nationally recognized expertise back to Staten Island.
For the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, Provenzano's achievement represents more than an individual professional milestone. The knowledge, strategies, and nationwide network gained through the Institute will further strengthen the Chamber's ability to serve its nearly 700 member businesses, enhance member engagement, expand marketing and communications initiatives, and continue delivering innovative programs that support Staten Island's business community.
As the Chamber continues to build on its recent U.S. Chamber Five-Star Accreditation, bringing additional nationally recognized expertise to the organization reinforces its commitment to providing best-in-class service and leadership for Staten Island businesses.
"Professional development is one of the best investments we can make as an organization because it directly benefits the businesses and community we serve," said Linda Baran, President and CEO of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce. "I know firsthand the value of the Institute for Organization Management and the lasting impact it has on chamber professionals. Dom's commitment to completing this four-year program is a tremendous accomplishment, and the knowledge, relationships, and new ideas he is bringing back to Staten Island will strengthen our organization and create even greater value for our members."
"Completing IOM has been one of the most rewarding professional experiences of my career,” said Provenzano. “Learning alongside colleagues from across the country exposed me to new ideas, innovative approaches, and best practices that I look forward to bringing back to our community. I'm grateful to the Chamber's leadership and Board of Directors for investing in my professional development, and I'm excited to apply what I've learned to continue enhancing the value we provide to our members and our business community."
