Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Excellence in Design, Construction & Innovation at the 2025 Building Awards
The Staten Island business and design community came together on November 13 at the historic St. George Theatre for the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 Building Awards Ceremony, marking the 64th year of celebrating architectural achievement, craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation across the borough.
For more than six decades, the Building Awards have honored the visionaries shaping Staten Island’s built environment. This year’s program continued that proud tradition, recognizing outstanding residential, commercial, and public projects that elevate quality of life and contribute to the island’s evolving landscape.
The Chamber extends its gratitude to the evening’s Signature Sponsors, Con Edison, IDB Bank, National Grid, and Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, and Partner Sponsors, Alpha Omega Coverage Corp., Empire State Bank, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, Rogers Calvanico Group, TD Bank, and Statwood, for helping make this celebration possible.
Special Awards:
Albert P. Melniker Award: This year’s Melniker Award celebrated the transformation of I.S. 49 and Eagle Academy, where artist Mona Oman and students reimagined the school through a vibrant exterior mural, native-plant garden, and refreshed interior spaces that promote creativity, pride, and calm.
Best in Green Award: CRSI was recognized for its expanded Serenity Garden and innovative indoor growing spaces that support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The project blends sustainability, accessibility, and hands-on learning, creating an inclusive green space for more than 160 program participants.
Technological Excellence Award: SIUH earned this distinction for upgrading its electrophysiology lab with advanced imaging technology, a second procedure suite, and modernized infrastructure—enhancing patient safety, efficiency, and access to cutting-edge cardiac care.
Special Recognition: The Chamber also celebrated Statwood Home Improvements, a third-generation family business marking 100 years of service. From its beginnings as a small woodworking shop, Statwood has grown into a trusted local leader in windows, doors, and home improvement products.
2025 Chairmans Awards:
Residential Chairmans Award: This Lighthouse Hill residence was honored for its refined French Renaissance Revival design, elegant interior detailing, and thoughtful integration with the natural landscape—creating a timeless and beautifully crafted home.
Commercial Chairmans Award: Kills Boro was recognized for transforming an industrial building into a welcoming brewery and eatery featuring preserved historic elements, warm finishes, flexible gathering spaces, and a design that celebrates Staten Island’s craft culture.
