Join us for an engaging and insightful discussion celebrating Small Business Month, presented in partnership with the NYC Department of Small Business Services.

This panel discussion will spotlight real-world experiences from MWBE-certified business owners as they share how certification has impacted their growth and success. Attendees will hear firsthand testimonials about navigating the MWBE certification process, accessing new opportunities, and securing contracts across industries.

Meet the Panelists

  • Davis Coreas

    David Coreas has over 17 years’ experience working with small business owners through banking, business operations, and government contracting. He has worked in the NYC Department of Small Business Services for over six years and currently manages the Agency Outreach Team. He works to raise awareness of the agency’s resources to help businesses including the City’s M/WBE Program, job seekers and community-based organizations throughout the five boroughs.

  • Michael J. Garner, MBA

    Michael J. Garner, MBA, was appointed New York City’s first Chief Business Diversity Officer by Mayor Eric Adams on February 16, 2023, and reappointed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani in January 2026.   Mr. Garner formerly served as the first Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), State of New York.

  • Marino Pawlowski

    Marino Pawlowski is the Finance Procurement Director for the College of Staten Island, a position he has held since May 2024. Prior to CSI, he gained public sector purchasing experience in the procurement offices at CUNY Central Office, and MTA – New York City Transit. He has represented the College and University at several vendor outreach events, including the NYS MWBE Forum, and the Veterans in Economic Transition Conference (VETCON).
