Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)
SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating
entrepreneurs and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource
partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). SCORE offers free and confidential advice to
small businesses. Through one-on-one counseling and informational seminars and workshops, SCORE is an

Small Business Development Center at CSI (SBDC)
The Small Business Development Center at CSI has been delivering high quality business counseling and
training to Staten Islanders who want to start a business or improve the performance of an existing
business, free of charge. In addition SBDC conducts seminars on problems unique to Staten Island
business owners. These are designed to address specific business issues on a one to one basis and are

NYS Department of Labor
The Staten Island office of The Department of Labor offers a variety of services to both new & existing
businesses. They offer tax incentive guidance, labor market information, on-site recruitment assistance
(as well as prescreening of job seekers when they are looking to hire staff). They have the largest
database of unemployed individuals residing on Staten Island and Southern New Jersey; all possessing
employment histories. Their database spectrum includes individuals from laborers to managers. They offer
career counseling, computer classes, employment workshops, job placement and referral assistance to job
seekers to make them job ready.They can provide statistical information by Industry, geographic area and specific entity within an industry. They can answer questions pertaining to unemployment insurance. West Brighton Community Local Development Corporation (WBCLDC)
The West Brighton Community Local Development Corporation (WBCLDC), serving the Staten Island Business
Community since 1981, offers programming to assist new entrepreneurs and existing businesses. Our
one-on-one business counseling and seminars on timely business topics are available to all Staten
Islanders. The WBCLDC also provides programs designed to address quality of life issues in the West
Brighton community. WBCLDC hosts a satellite office of the BOC Women’s Business Center. Through the BOC
WBC, we offer one-on-one counseling, long-term training and short-term seminars targeting women
