- MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY...
Every Chamber member receives a copy of the Annual Membership Directory. Each member is listed alphabetically with its address and telephone number, as well as the name of its key representative. Firms are also classified and listed according to type of business. Specialty Listings and Display Advertising are also available in the Business Directory. Chamber membership puts you in contact with people you wouldn't ordinarily have a chance to meet and provides you with helpful connections.

The Staten Island Chamber of Commerce is here if you have a problem with your business or if you just need assistance with something. Just call or email our "help desk." Even if we cannot solve the dilemma ourselves, we will put you in touch with either other members who have experienced the same situation, or agencies that may have a resolution or services you need. It's quick, it's easy, it's confidential, and it's free.

You are entitled to a listing on our Internet Web Site, www.sichamber.com, which provides a professional Internet presence for our members. Users of the page can link to Chamber members who have web sites of their own and will even be provided with helpful maps that direct you precisely to a specific business' location. - LUNCHEON & BREAKFAST SPEAKERS
The Chamber coordinates luncheons and breakfasts with informative guest speakers throughout the year. This enables our membership to remain current on events and issues that impinge upon their businesses and the Island's quality of life.
- SMALL BUSINESS SEMINARS
Our popular and informative seminars offer topics, which run the gamut from "stress management" to motivational conferences. Many seminars are free of charge to all members and their employees. We encourage our members to share their expertise in presenting new seminars.
- BROCHURES / LITERATURE
The Chamber provides information for visitors and tourists. We have brochures of Staten Island's many tourist attractions, museums, and cultural activities. We publish an official Staten Island road map and offer additional transportation guides as well.
- ACTION CALLS / FLASHES
We can provide up-to-date information on legislation affecting your business. We can also help mobilize a response to legislation through our committees, staff and ACTION-CALL mailings to the membership.
- S.C.O.R.E (SERVICE CORPS OF RETIRED EXECUTIVES)
An offshoot of the Small Business Administration, SCORE consists of trained counselors, formerly in business themselves, who offer expertise in various fields such as insurance, banking, accounting, financing, etc. These volunteer representatives offer free counseling to business owners and potential entrepreneurs.
- "FOCUS"........THE CHAMBER NEWSLETTER
The Chamber publishes a professional newsletter approximately once a month which covers articles or legislation affecting business, a member profile, and a calendar of upcoming Chamber and community events, as well as many other business-related articles of interest.

Chamber staff sits on the board of many committees including local Community Boards, business organizations, Non-Profit Agencies and Cultural Institutions. If you would like the advantage of networking with fellow business owners, the Chamber coordinates various functions throughout the year. The following is a representative sampling of the networking opportunities offered to and by the membership.
- THE BUSINESS GUILD OF THE STATEN ISLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Business Guild of Staten Island Chamber of Commerce is a business and networking organization. Private business owners, professional people and representatives of community service organizations meet on a weekly basis to share business referrals. The purpose of each individual group is work toward each other's business success. These weekly meetings help to build close professional relationships by affording members the opportunity to learn about each other's business. Each member is guaranteed exclusive representation in his/her business category/profession.
- BUSINESS AFTER HOURS (BAH)
Sponsored by the Chamber members, these well-attended gatherings provide an opportunity to exchange business cards while meeting your fellow members in a congenial and social atmosphere. These "mixers" are held regularly throughout the year.
- SPECIAL EVENTS
These include the annual Golf Outing, the Building Awards program, and the Annual Dinner Dance. Our general membership luncheons and breakfasts are informative and a further opportunity to network.

The Staten Island Chamber of Commerce partners with
the NYC Department of Small
Business Services (SBS)
to manage and promote the Business Solutions Center-North Shore.
The
BSC-North Shore, located at 60 Bay Street, is
one of several satellite offices
of SBS created to provide free, quick and reliable information on a range of
critical business issues.
The services offered include working with prospective
business owners by providing them with relevant start-up information, assistance
in business plan development, and obtaining commercial financing. Existing
businesses can benefit from help in accessing tax incentive programs and
obtaining Minority and Women Owned Business certification. The BSC also works
with the WorkForce1 Career Center to assist local businesses by providing
qualified candidates for employment, as well as employee training in business
software.
The New York City Department of Small Business Services has announced a new
round of funding for the NYC Business Solutions Training Grant. The Grant is
designed to grow the City's economy by enabling employers to create and retain
jobs, increase wages, build skills, and help workers advance in their careers.
To date, New York City has awarded over
$2.57 million to 30 growing companies to train
1,847 New Yorkers, matched by
$3.67 million in employer contributions. Up to $1 million
is available in this
round for employers in the following sectors: Aviation, Construction, Film/Media, Financial Services, Healthcare/Bioscience, Hospitality/Tourism,
Industrial/Manufacturing, Retail, and Technology. The grant can fund up to 50
percent
of eligible training costs ($300,000 maximum), with the employer paying
the balance.
